Since the college�s inception, we have undertaken to provide quality education commensurate with international best practice. The College is also the first and longest running institute of Homeopathy in New Zealand.

Brief history of The Auckland College of Classical Homeopathy

The College was founded in 1984 to fill a vacuum in the health education spectrum, and was the only college of Homeopathy in New Zealand until 1991. It was in fact one of the earliest of the dedicated Homeopathic colleges in the western world, being an internationally contributing part of the renaissance in Homeopathy which occurred in the late 1970�s-1980�s.

The Founders were Derek and Patricia Briggs, who are well known to the Homeopathic world internationally.
Initially the College taught knowledge available in 19th century homeopathic texts, but from very early in their work they became aware that there was a large body of knowledge evolving outside New Zealand, which at that time was not penetrating into New Zealand�s Homeopathic community
Derek Briggs� goal was to develop a course that would produce a body of specialist homeopathic practitioners of international standing within New Zealand. To this end, he traveled the world to study the methodology and techniques of the leading international homeopaths of the time. He worked with George Vithoulkas in Greece, and attended seminars in America, Australia, England and Holland, and on several occasions attended the Bombay Homeopathic Research and Charities group featuring Dr Rajan Sankaran, Dr Divya Chhabra, and Dr Jayesh Shah, leading lights of the Indian and international Homeopathic renaissance.(This particular group of Homeopaths has, by their development of the study of whole families of plant remedies, increased the concepts and study of Homeopathic medicine exponentially).
