COMMENCEMENT OF STUDY:
Studying an ACCH course includes face-to-face tuition, self-study, research and assessments, blending the advanced teachings of Vithoulkas, Sankaran and Scholten with traditional Homeopathic teaching. Current experience within the education community of professional homeopathy (ECCH European Guidelines for homeopathic education 2000) shows that effective education in homeopathic practice takes a minimum of three to four years of full time study at a diploma or degree level.( click here for information on our National Diploma in Homeopathy, four year professional course)
Students are required to be actively involved in supervised case taking and on going case management with a minimum number of ten patients with three follow up consultations for each. The student is the primary case taker in each of these cases.
ACCH differs from other homeopathic courses offered in New Zealand in that more face to face hours are offered to students over the four year period, and in that the content contains new emerging homeopathic methodologies and philosophies. Students develop research and audit skills to be able to discern these new paradigms that are offered, and are assisted into clinical practice with their tutor acting as supervisor, educator and examiner. Practical aspects of setting up and managing a homeopathic clinic are also addressed.
This is a highly practical course heavily weighted towards LIVE videoed cases, and practical experience is just naturally built into the course. The practical aspects of the course include many live video case studies. Clinical experience and practice is an integral part of the course
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The College acknowledges and supports the right of potential participants to gain skills through cross credititing or recognition or prior learning. The College often receives applications from students seeking cross-credit transfers from other homeopathic training organisations. It is necessary to determine what has already been achieved and the degree of cross crediting that can be made.
Any RPL application is based on previous unit standards/qualification attained under the NZQA framework. As part or all of a year's tuition can be waived and credit given if competence can be demonstrated.
Studens who have attained a relative 1st year in the diploma qualfication from another institute may gain automatic entry to 2nd year of the college programme, but may still e required to complete other aspects of the 1st year course eg ethics, communication etc. There will be limited access to Year 3 of the programme by RPL, but each application will be considered on his/her merits as per the above policy.
There can be no RPL and direct entry into the Year 4 programme as the ACCH Year 4 component has specific requirements that must be met by participating in at least some of ACCH's course programme prior to the fourth of study.
The practical assessment of credit tansfers and RPL applications will remain the responsibility of the Management team.
